MINNA: The Coordinator of Tinubu Support Organization in North-East and Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has said that the chances of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the North-East in the 2023 general elections are very high.

He stated this after a visit to former Head of State, General Abdulsalam Abubakar and former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida in Minna on Saturday.

The Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawal also visited and entered into a closed door meeting with former Nigeria Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar in Minna.

In their separate closed door meetings with the former leaders, Senator Ahmed Lawal and Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya said they were on private visit to wish General Abdulsalami who just returned from a medical trip quick recovery.

Speaking with Journalists about his visits, Governor Yahaya said “Our chances in the north-east are very high indeed. We are strong in our resolve to win the 2023 general elections bad we shall succeed.

“It does not matter that the PDP presidential candidate is from North-East. Both Tinubu and Atiku, they are all my brothers. Nigeria is one and we are struggling to maintain it as a united and indivisible country, it doesn’t matter where they come from, what we need is the best for Nigeria”.

He however disclosed that, “General Abdulsalam is our father and elder statesman. Knowing him has been a blessing to us. I came to greet him as he recovers from the recent ailment he has. I pray that God will continue to see him through his life.

“The two former leaders are carrying out their duties in guiding and advising the people on how to live together as one and their efforts should be applauded”.

Speaking about the state of insecurity across the country, the Gombe State Governor said that the state has been able to maintain its peace amidst diversity because the people had realized their differences early and worked to address them.

“In Gombe, you will find that some families have both Christians and Muslims, it is a cosmopolitan settlement and a small Nigeria. We realized our differences early on and seek to address them. We have tried to maintain peace and understanding in the spirit of nationhood and brotherhood”, Yahaya said.

In a separate interview, the Senate President who was accompanied by the Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Senator Sani Musa explained that he is in Minna on a sympathy visit to the former Head of State who is recuperating from an illness.

According to him “the two leaders have a lot of roles to play in ensuring the unity and peaceful co-existence of Nigerians. It is necessary that the visit is made especially with the contributions Abdulsalami has made to the country.

“As our leader and elder statesman, we felt that it is necessary that we make this visit today to come and sympathize with him and his family.

“We are grateful to God for the lives of our fathers and we pray that they recover completely so that they would be able to continue with their good work of ensuring that Nigeria remains united and Nigerians live peacefully amongst themselves”.

The Senate President however Lawan declined questions fielded by Journalists as he insisted that he is only in the state for a private visit and nothing else.

Senator Lawan and his team arrived in Minna at about 1.30pm and first visited the residence of General Abdulsalami where they spent about 40 minutes closed door before he visited General Babangida where they spent about 30 minutes.
